Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA, seeks a Communications Hardware Engineer or Principal Communications Hardware Engineer to join the Avionics Integration Organization. The role involves installation, integration, testing, and field support for military comms systems, with up to 25% travel and potential hybrid/work-from-site arrangements.

Required are a STEM degree with 2+ years experience (or higher) and a active Secret clearance; familiarity with Team Center, RT-1990s

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2 years of related professional/military experience; OR Master’s with 0 years; OR PhD with 1 year.
Active US Secret Clearance with a favorable background check (within past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
Experience with Team Center.
Working knowledge of US DoD Communication systems such as RT-1990s ARC-2105 for autonomous aircraft voice systems.
Experience with IP networks, VoIP, Information Assurance (IA), satellite, and LOS RF communications.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, integration, check-out, and testing of communications and data link systems in military flight test environments.
Perform field troubleshooting and repair of comms and data link systems in military environments.
Review design documents such as Interface Control Documents and Software Installation Procedures.
Plan and execute laboratory and flight tests.
Support change management and engineering change proposals (ECP).
Prepare schedules, earned value, risk management, and program communications.
