Qualifications

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Communications Hardware Electronics Engineer located in Palmdale, CA or El Segundo, CA.

The position will perform engineering capture, build, integration, test, and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings. Key tasks include designing rack‑based communication equipment and cabling, developing engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, creating bills of materials, specifying rack cabling (RF, optical, 1553, power) and cooling systems, performing system verification procedures, installing communication support equipment, providing integration and maintenance support, troubleshooting complex systems, and preparing presentations and status updates for stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering capture, build, integration, test and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings.
  • Design rack‑based communication, test, support equipment, and cabling to meet system requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and have color vision to identify cables and wires.
  • Knowledge of governing and industry standards, including MIL‑STD‑1553, MIL‑STD‑1760, MIL‑STD‑100G, and ASME Y14.100.
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance (background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable timeframe determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with investigation date within the last 5 years and ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude to learn new material quickly.
  • High attention to detail and emphasis on first‑time quality.
  • Working knowledge of various communication protocols, including Ethernet, 1553 bus systems and FibreChannel.
  • Experience with drawing and release tools—CATIA V5, Visio, Teamcenter Enterprise PLM.
  • Working knowledge of communication engineering theory and RF systems.
  • Experience with production of complex systems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
Compensation & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00. Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including scope of responsibilities and candidate experience.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and, for certain positions, long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.

Relocation assistance may be available. This role requires on‑site full‑time work; remote or hybrid options are not available. Travel may be required 25%–45% of the time during surge periods.
