Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Communications Hardware Electronics Engineer in Palmdale, CA or El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on capture, build, integration, test, and maintenance of communications hardware in lab and field settings.

Responsibilities include designing rack-based equipment, BOM creation, rack cabling, and system verification procedures, with travel 25%–45% as surge periods require. A Secret Clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or higher with related engineering experience.
• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and color vision to identify cables and wires.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering capture, build, integration, test and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings.
• Design rack-based communication, test, support equipment, and cabling to meet system requirements.
• Conduct electrical signal and power analysis at the rack level.
• Develop engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings and interconnect wiring diagrams.
• Create bills of materials to support the build of systems.
• Specify rack cabling (RF, optical, 1553, power) and cooling systems.
• Develop and perform system verification procedures.
• Install communication, test and support equipment in laboratory and field environments.
