GDH Consulting, Inc. in Texas is seeking a senior communications technician to provide national telecommunications field support across a large geographic area.

The role covers installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Avaya systems, ensuring reliability and performance on customer networks. The ideal candidate will work independently, lead project support, and deliver first-level training for field personnel.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of installation/maintenance experience with Avaya systems.
• Proficiency with testing equipment and Avaya support software.
• CCNA certification is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication with internal teams, contractors, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Avaya equipment (CM, Session Manager, System Manager, G430/G450, voicemail).
• Support project teams with telecommunications deployments and system implementations.
• Manage voice/data networks with carrier providers.
• Provide first-level training to field personnel for effective system operation.
• Be primary liaison between field teams and IT for communications issues.
• Conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting to resolve failures.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure uptime and reliability.
• Lead and oversee contractors in telecom installations and maintenance.
• Document system configurations, repairs, and activities.

Job description

Role Summary A senior communications technician responsible for providing national telecommunications field support across a large geographic area. This role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Avaya communications systems, ensuring reliability and performance. The position requires a proactive, independent professional capable of handling diverse technical tasks, including project assistance and providing first-level training for field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Avaya Communications equipment including CM, Session Manager, System Manager, G430 and G450 media gateways, and voicemail systems.
• Support and assist project teams with the implementation of telecommunications projects and system deployments.
• Manage the installation and maintenance of voice and data networks in collaboration with carrier service providers.
• Provide first-level support and training to field operations personnel to ensure effective system operation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between field teams and the IT organization for communications-related issues.
• Conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting to resolve communications system failures efficiently.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure system uptime and reliability.
• Lead and oversee the work of local contractors engaged in telecommunications system installation and maintenance.
• Document system configurations, repairs, and project activities accurately.
• Maintain availability for 24/7 on-call support to address urgent communications needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate's degree in Electronics or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in installation and/or maintenance of Avaya telecommunications systems.
• Proficiency with testing equipment and software used in Avaya system support.
• Network certification such as CCNA is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience working with voice network infrastructures.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
• Physical ability to work outdoors and operate motor vehicles safely.
• Availability for travel up to 50%.

Publishing Pay Range: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 Annually

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
