Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Executive II to lead commissioning on complex projects, ensuring customer satisfaction, financial performance, schedule, and technical excellence. You will guide design-to-operations transitions, manage budgets, users, and risk, and mentor team members while coordinating with site management on subcontractor work.

This role requires deep commissioning expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and compliance across multiple projects and offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or 15+ years of equivalent field experience.
• Seventeen years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP Contractor or Commissioning firm.
• Proven ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
• Extensive knowledge of how design, construction, start-up, commissioning, and turnover align within the project delivery process.
• Mastery of the commissioning process, L0-L5, and strong understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Proven problem-solving skills with risk assessment and safety integration within commissioning activities.
• Positive and professional attitude with excellent customer service skills and ability to coach and lead teams.
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

• Conduct key customer service visits throughout the project, from pre-construction client surveys to close-out, ensuring project commitments are met and issues are resolved.
• Preview proposals before submission and participate in the RFP process
• Act as primary customer contact for all assigned projects
• Maintain customer relationships to be aware of current and future projects
• Support business development initiatives in establishing and building on client relationships
• Oversight and accountability for large projects
• Establish and implement project objectives and procedures
• Maintain commissioning budgets, costs, and pricing, ensuring delivery of a profitable project
• Develop team members for growth within their current roles, future career consideration, and training opportunities
• Provide high-level management of quality, risk, safety, technical excellence, and compliance for the project and team members
• Effectively work and build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, embody the LeadBLU principles, and effectively manage performance
• Perform all other duties as assigned
