Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Manager I to drive and lead project commissioning, contract administration, and field activities for large, complex assignments. The role requires independent judgment to adapt commissioning techniques and criteria across mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems.

The ideal candidate holds a engineering degree or 10+ years in CM/commissioning, with strong client relations and QA/QC experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 10 years of equivalent field experience.
• Six+ years in construction management or commissioning, preferably with MEP.
• Understanding of project management and field execution processes.
• Strong client communication and leadership in project teams.
• Experience with QA/QC and design-to-commission turnover.
• Familiar with codes, standards, and PPA/test turnover requirements.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and BIM360 for project data.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and work across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform scope reviews and provide detailed comments and recommendations.
• Develop commissioning specs, plans, checklists, and tests.
• Lead field visits, inspections, and provide technical guidance.
• Direct functional performance tests and schedule commissioning activities.
• Draft issue resolutions, minutes, field reports, and final reports.
• Conduct training, coordinate across disciplines, and resolve issues with contractors.
• Collaborate with scope team and PM to verify scope and criteria.
• Lead system tests including NETA, SCADA, controls, and life safety.
