Job summary

The Mutual Group in the United States seeks an Underwriting Specialist in Field Underwriting to manage a book of business for profitability, review new and renewal work, assess risk, and prepare quotes. You will foster strong relationships with agents to drive growth and work with limited supervision.

Location may be hybrid or remote based on role and geography, with some in-office days during training. Competitive salary and benefits are offered to support success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or related field preferred.
• Holding or working towards an insurance designation preferred (CPCU, IIA, etc.).
• Seven years of progressively responsible underwriting experience in commercial lines.
• Experience writing business for churches or religious affiliated institutions preferred.
• Strong knowledge of P&C terms, practices, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review new and renewal business for profitability and growth.
• Assess risk of coverage and prepare quotes within authority level.
• Build relationships with agents to drive business flow.
• Mentor staff and assist in training new hires.
• Approve referrals for lower authority levels and coordinate with portfolio team.
