Qualifications

• 2–5 years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
• CPCU or equivalent coursework preferred.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Knowledge of commercial lines products and state regulatory differences.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build relationships with agents and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and maintain risk acceptability and profitability within underwriting guidelines.
• Partner with agents to manage a challenging and/or complex book of commercial business.
• Demonstrates complex decision‑making with little supervision and recommends quality exceptions.
• Support marketing activities to agents and participate in agency management.
• Serve as a mentor providing technical support, training, and problem solving.
• Protect confidential and proprietary information.
• Analyze accounts and determine acceptance, rejection, or modification within delegated authority.
• Price business according to underwriting and pricing guidelines; assist less experienced underwriters.
• Collaborate with Territory Managers on market appetite and submissions.
• Identify issues or patterns and contribute to agency planning and improvements.
• Travel to assigned agent locations to develop partnerships.
• Train and educate agency staff on products and processes.
• Attend industry workshops/meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
