Job summary

PlainsCapital Bank is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to independently evaluate the financial condition and creditworthiness of complex commercial clients. The role offers autonomy in financial analysis and mentoring to junior analysts, supporting relationship managers and credit officers with well-informed credit structuring recommendations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in credit analysis, preferably in commercial loans.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required; accounting/finance preferred.
• Completion of a formal bank Credit Training program is strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes financial statements and performance ratios to assess borrower strength and weaknesses.
• Prepares credit analyses covering borrower/guarantors, economic conditions, and industry factors.
• Conducts in-depth historical and projected financial analyses, including what-if scenarios.
• Evaluates secondary repayment sources such as collateral and guarantor position.
• Keeps industry data updated and researches information from borrowers, publications, and credit agencies.
• Participates in Loan Committee/Board discussions to answer questions about analysis.
• Mentors junior analysts and may travel for customer meetings or site visits.
