Job summary

Canto is hiring its first in-house Commercial Counsel to build and scale a modern legal function focused on commercial contracting.

You will own end-to-end contracting operations, implement foundational systems, and partner across Sales, Finance, and the executive team to drive growth with pragmatic risk management.

This remote role supports EST/CST time zones as the company expands its global footprint and AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology, in-house or mix of law firm & in-house.
• Strong experience negotiating commercial SaaS agreements, including MSAs, subscription agreements, DPAs, and NDAs.
• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks, including GDPR and CCPA.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and execute commercial SaaS agreements with standard guardrails.
• Scale contracting operations with CLM systems, playbooks, and workflows.
• Lead data privacy initiatives, including DPAs and regulatory alignment across geographies.
• Partner with Sales, Security, Product, Finance, and executives on AI, governance, and contracting strategy.
