Job summary

Canto is seeking a Commercial Counsel to lead the in‑house contracting function, reporting to the CFO. Build a scalable, AI‑enabled contracting operation and partner with Sales, Finance, and executives to accelerate deal velocity while mitigating risk.

You will design playbooks, templates, and workflows, oversee CLM systems, and ensure GDPR/CCPA compliance across US and EU projects. This role demands strategic thinking and hands‑on execution in a fast‑growing SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• JD is required and bar membership in good standing.
• 5–8 years of legal experience in SaaS or technology, in‑house or firm + in‑house mix.
• Familiarity with GDPR/CCPA or similar data privacy frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Drive commercial contracting and sales enablement.
• Negotiate and execute MSAs, subscription agreements, DPAs, and NDAs.
• Enforce standard terms and resolve non‑standard terms efficiently.
• Train Sales to handle routine negotiations independently.
• Lead end‑to‑end contracting operations and CLM implementation.
• Leverage AI tools for contract review, risk flags, and automation.
