Job summary

Acxiom is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to independently lead complex commercial transactions, provide strategic legal guidance to Sales and senior business leaders, and help scale the Legal function. The role requires strong drafting, risk assessment, and negotiation skills in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience negotiating technology, data, and SaaS agreements, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of relevant legal experience negotiating sophisticated commercial and technology transactions; 12+ years preferred.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills; ability to identify material risks and propose practical solutions.
• Strong business judgment balancing legal risk with commercial objectives; know when to escalate to Legal leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex client, vendor, technology, data licensing, and strategic partnerships agreements (adtech/martech and data-driven services).
• Provide practical strategic legal advice to Sales and business leaders while protecting the company.
• Develop and implement negotiation strategies; communicate material risks and recommended paths forward.
• Partner with Privacy and other SMEs on data protection, security, and regulatory requirements in contracts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Privacy, Finance, Security, Product, and Operations to resolve deal issues and accelerate execution.
• Develop and maintain contracting standards, templates, and playbooks; improve contracting processes and legal operations.
• Mentor attorneys and legal staff; contribute to the growth of the Legal function without direct management responsibility.
• Develop deep knowledge of Acxiom’s products, services, and contracting practices to inform guidance.
