Job summary

Clark College seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site operations for commercial construction in Central Michigan. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage day-to-day field activities with the Project Manager, and ensure work progresses safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.

Based in Lansing, MI or nearby, you will drive site planning, safety compliance, documentation, and stakeholder meetings with owners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Subcontractor Coordination: Oversee and coordinate subcontractors in the field to align with plans, specs, and schedule requirements.
• Project Planning: Establish field priorities, develop execution strategies, and maintain look-ahead schedules to meet milestones.
• Supervision: Direct day-to-day site activities, managing subcontractors, vendors, and craft labor effectively.
• Safety Oversight: Enforce safety standards and company policies, stopping work when necessary to prevent accidents.
• Quality & Compliance: Monitor work for safety, quality plans, and specifications; address deviations promptly.
• Documentation: Maintain daily reports, quality inspections, change notices, and material logs.
• Cost Control: Review and audit subcontractor pay applications and change order requests for budget impact.
• Stakeholder Communication: Lead or participate in site meetings, sharing progress updates with owners and stakeholders.
• Material Management: Track delivery, inspect, and ensure proper storage and maintenance of equipment and materials on-site.
