Job summary

Clark College in Southeast Michigan is seeking an experienced Superintendent for Commercial Construction to oversee field operations across the region. You will work closely with the Project Manager to lead on-site activities, coordinate trade contractors, and ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial construction with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and process development skills.
• Proficiency with data automation tools and standard business applications.

Responsibilities

• Subcontractor coordination: oversee field activities to align with plans and schedule.
• Project planning: set field priorities, develop execution strategies, maintain look-ahead schedules.
• Supervision: direct day-to-day site activities with subcontractors and vendors.
• Safety oversight: enforce safety standards and stop work when necessary.
• Quality & compliance: monitor safety, quality plans, and specifications.
• Documentation: maintain daily reports, quality inspections, change notices, material logs.
• Cost control: review pay applications and assess change orders for impacts.
• Stakeholder communication: lead or participate in site meetings with owners.
• Material management: track delivery and ensure proper storage on-site.
