Job summary

Southland Industries in Texas is seeking a skilled boiler technician responsible for routine maintenance and complex repairs on commercial HVAC boilers and related equipment. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and calibrate control systems and instrumentation to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role requires a 4-year apprenticeship or technical schooling, 5+ years of experience with large boilers, and a Texas driver license.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program or technical schooling.
• At least 5 years’ experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of large commercial boilers and steam generation systems.
• Valid Texas Driver License and clean driving record.
• OSHA-10 certification (within 6 months from date of hire).
• Ability to read blueprints, layout plans and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with a wide variety of people.
• Willingness to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair all components of boiler systems and associated mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems, electrical circuitry, deaerators, gas and fuel pressure lines, feedwater pumps, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
• Use combustion analyzer, electric multimeter, and other test equipment to test and analyze systems.
• Perform calibrations and checkouts to instrumentation such as gauges, pressure transmitters, flow meters, and VFDs.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance and repair.
• Monitor systems and perform safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements and EPA regulations.
• Document preventive maintenance and repair and maintain accurate records.
• Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis, and support for retrofits and control upgrades.
• Assist with estimating time and material costs and perform all work safely per Southland rules.
