Happy Money is seeking a Senior Collections Specialist to support day-to-day collections operations, engage with past-due customers, negotiate payment plans, and resolve escalated cases. The role emphasizes collaboration, SOP improvements, and cross-functional teamwork within a fully distributed, remote-friendly organization.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in collections, deep process knowledge, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in collections, customer operations, or related field.
• Deep understanding of collections processes, strategies, and regulatory considerations.
• Ability to handle escalated customer situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
• Detail-oriented communication, writing, and typing; able to convey information clearly.
• Proactive problem solver with ability to adapt to business needs.

Responsibilities

• Contact past due customers and negotiate payment plans within established parameters.
• Negotiate hardship plans and settlements for customers unable to pay in full.
• Handle escalated calls and complex account investigations with sound judgment.
• Maintain accurate customer records and up-to-date statuses.
• Meet or exceed department performance targets through proactive collections efforts.
• Provide peer feedback and support to internal and external teams.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
• Draft and update SOPs to reflect current processes.
