Job summary

Optum360 is seeking a Coding SME to oversee facility-based and HIM coding operations across the region. The role emphasizes leading quality initiatives, standardizing processes, and driving performance excellence with client-focused collaboration.

You will work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. and partner with CDI, Quality, and client teams to improve reimbursement, accuracy, and service levels, while managing a multi-site coding staff.

Qualifications

• AAPC or AHIMA coding credential.
• 4+ years as a subject matter expert in corporate coding leadership for large multi-site healthcare organizations with 35+ coding staff.
• 4+ years with inpatient, outpatient, and/or ambulatory coding and/or coding reviewer roles.
• 4+ years collaborating with CDI and Quality leadership to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy.
• 4+ years with computer assisted coding technologies and EMR coding workflow.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Optum360 coding operations across facilities within the assigned region.
• Lead standardization efforts, best practices, and metric development for coding performance.
• Collaborate with HIM, CDI, Client, and Coding Operations to monitor day-to-day coding and prebill activities.
• Drive quality assurance, audit remediation, and implementation of corrective action plans.
• Maintain expert knowledge of coding accuracy and regulatory compliance to meet targets.
• Lead and participate in leadership forums and staff development within HIM/Coding/CDI managers.
