Job summary

Optum360 Coding Operations within UnitedHealth Group seeks a Senior Coding SME to oversee facility-based and HIM coding departments across the region, driving quality metrics, audits, and standardized processes.

You will lead client meetings with Quality Teams, CDI, and others, mentor staff, and collaborate to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy. Remote work from anywhere in the U.S. is supported; salary ranges are posted.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current, active coding credential through AAPC or AHIMA.
• 5+ years as a subject matter expert in corporate coding leadership for large multi-site healthcare organizations.
• 5+ years of experience in coding reviewer role auditing Inpatient and/or Outpatient accounts.
• 5+ years of experience with CDI and Quality leadership collaboration.
• 5+ years of experience with computer assisted coding technologies and EMR coding workflows.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee coding operations across facilities and regions.
• Drive standardization of processes and best practices in coding.
• Lead client meetings with Quality Teams, CDI, and others.
• Monitor quality, audits, and metrics to meet or exceed SLAs.
• Mentor and develop coding staff and leadership.
