Job summary

Optum Insight seeks a Coding SME to oversee facility-based coding operations within the assigned region. You will lead quality initiatives, audits, and workflow standardization, partnering with CDI, HIM, and client teams to meet SLAs and drive performance.

This remote role offers flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S., requires strong leadership across multi-site teams, and a deep background in inpatient/outpatient coding and CAC/EMR workflows.

Qualifications

• AAPC or AHIMA credential (CCS, CPC, RHIT or RHIA) required.
• 4+ years as a subject matter expert in corporate coding leadership for large multi-site healthcare organizations with 35+ coding staff.
• 4+ years of inpatient/outpatient/ambulatory coding experience or as a coding reviewer.
• 4+ years collaborating with CDI and Quality leadership to improve reimbursement and coding accuracy.
• 4+ years with computer-assisted coding technologies and EMR coding workflow.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facility-based and HIM/Coding Department operations across the region.
• Lead initiatives to standardize processes, improve metrics and reduce waste.
• Monitor prebill reviews and quality reviews in collaboration with CDI, HIM and clients.
• Drive quality assurance, audits, remediation plans and staff development.
• Maintain expert knowledge of coding to meet targets and SLA commitments.
• Lead and participate in leadership forums and develop staff through feedback and training.
