Job summary

WVU Healthcare is seeking an experienced coding educator and supervisor to train and oversee the coding staff. This role directs audits, provides ongoing feedback, and leads education plans to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, MS-DRG, HCC, and APR-DRG assignments.

The position requires HIT or coding certification and 5+ years of coding experience, with supervisory or project management background. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program AND Five (5) years of coding experience.
• Graduate of a Medical Coding Certification Program AND Five (5) years of coding experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent AND Eight (8) years of coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages activities of designated coding personnel in training for WVU Healthcare and assures the monitoring and reporting of respective employee’s developmental activity.
• Manages quality improvement audits and training of designated coding staff.
• Acts as expert coding resource to coders, clinicians, and revenue cycle teams.
• Serves as super user for Coding-related EMR systems and updates policies/procedures.
• Develops and maintains coding policies, procedures, and training materials.
