Job summary

WVU Healthcare seeks a Coding Education and Audit Leader to educate and train the coding staff under Coding Managers. The role oversees auditing, education plans, and ongoing feedback to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and MS-DRG assignments.

Required are 5+ years of coding experience with a HIT or coding certification, plus relevant supervisory or project management background. Strong communication with physician and administration teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of HIT or equivalent with 5 years coding experience.
• Alternative: Medical Coding Certification program with 5 years coding experience.
• High School Diploma with 8 years coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages training activities for WVU Healthcare Coding staff.
• Oversees quality improvement audits and training programs.
• Acts as expert coding resource to coders, providers and revenue cycle teams.
• Serves as super user for Coding-related EMR systems and updates policies.
• Develops and maintains coding policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Communicates with Coding Leadership and stakeholders regularly.
• Organizes internal quality reviews and reports on results.
• Designs audit tools to monitor coding accuracy and gaps.
• Coordinates external audits and prepares final reports for management.
• Coordinates denial reviews and facilitates appeal letters.
