Job summary

WVU Medicine seeks an experienced leader to educate and train WVU Healthcare Coding Staff, oversee auditing plans, and guide education initiatives across coding teams. The role emphasizes quality audits, feedback, and ongoing education using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and MS-DRG/HCC/APR-DRG assignment expertise.

Ideal candidates bring HIT or coding program graduates with at least five years' coding experience and relevant certifications; supervisory or project management background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of HIT or equivalent program and five years of coding experience.
• Graduate of a Medical Coding Certification Program and five years of coding experience.
• High School Diploma with eight years of coding experience.
• Certification in RHIA/RHIT or COC/CCS/CPC as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manages activities of designated coding personnel in training for WVU Healthcare and monitors development.
• Manages quality improvement audits and training of designated coding staff.
• Acts as expert coding resource to coders, CDI, providers, and revenue cycle teams.
• Super user for Coding-related EMR Systems; updates policies and conducts in-services.
• Develops and maintains coding policies, queries, work queues and training materials.
