Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector Nonprofits practice in San Diego. You will lead technical engagements for nonprofit research organizations, designing cloud architectures and guiding security best practices for applications, servers, and networks.

You will mentor peers, present to groups of varying sizes, and collaborate with top enterprise architects while traveling up to 30% to support customer initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (software, cloud, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
• 10+ years of IT development or consulting in software or Internet industries.
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare and life sciences (clinical research, genomics, bioinformatics).

Responsibilities

• Own the technical engagement and success of customer implementation projects.
• Design cloud architectures leveraging AWS services.
• Provide thought leadership on security best practices for applications, servers, and networks.
• Respond to RFPs and define implementation approaches.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.
• Lead whiteboard sessions, technical deep-dives, and presentations for audiences of all sizes.
• Capture and share best practices across the SA community.
• Collaborate with and learn from the brightest technical minds in enterprise architecture.
• Mentor peers and customers while staying current on AWS innovations and industry trends.
• Travel up to 30%.
