Job summary

Apex Space, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize secure cloud environments supporting U.S. government missions. You will work across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and hybrid/multi-cloud setups, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD IL-4/IL-5.

The role emphasizes hands-on cloud security in regulated environments, with opportunities to contribute to SOC2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR/CCPA compliance, and security modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, computer science, or related field (or 5+ years equivalent).
• 5–9+ years in cloud security engineering with hands-on AWS GovCloud, Azure, Google Cloud or multi-cloud.
• Strong analytical and collaboration skills for mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Maintain compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD IL requirements.
• Configure IAM, RBAC, JIT access, and Zero Trust across cloud environments.
• Operate cloud-security tools (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, SIEM) for threat detection and response.
• Develop SSP/SAR/POA&M and risk/compliance reporting for cloud operations.
