Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to own reliability and architecture for production systems across AWS Commercial and GovCloud, ROSA, and multi-cloud environments. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes scalable, secure cloud solutions and automation.

You will drive CI/CD, incident response, and observability while mentoring junior engineers and guiding platform engineering alignment. Remote role with EST hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years of experience in cloud/DevOps or production systems engineering.
• Extensive hands-on AWS Commercial and GovCloud experience including ROSA or Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Deep infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform and Ansible/Ansible Tower.
• Advanced proficiency with GitLab and Jenkins, including CI/CD and deployment automation.
• Extensive scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
• Experience in federal or regulated environments (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, availability, performance, and operational health of critical infrastructure and applications.
• Lead complex production incidents with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Define reliability objectives, SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and service health metrics.
• Lead observability strategy with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts.
• Oversee deployment lifecycles: releases, upgrades, patching, capacity management.
• Identify and address systemic reliability risks and tech debt.
• Design resilience, disaster recovery, backup, and failover strategies.
• Advance automation and Everything-as-Code practices.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering to align architecture with reliability needs.
• Mentor junior Cloud Architects and promote best practices.
