Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to join a team responsible for the reliability and architecture of production systems running in AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud, with some components on Azure and GCP. The primary workload runs on ROSA.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• 12+ years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or production systems.
• Extensive AWS Commercial and GovCloud experience; ROSA or Kubernetes.
• Terraform and Ansible / Ansible Tower experience.
• GitLab and Jenkins CI/CD expertise, with deployments automation.
• Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Experience with enterprise observability tools (Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, OpenTelemetry).
• Ownership of an SLI/SLO and alerting programs.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
• Experience in federal or regulated environments (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, availability, performance, and health of critical infrastructure services.
• Lead complex production incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Define and improve reliability objectives, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, metrics.
• Lead observability strategy with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards and alerts.
• Oversee deployments, upgrades, patching, capacity management.
• Identify and mitigate systemic reliability risks and debt.
• Design resilience, disaster recovery, and failover plans.
• Develop automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Collaborate with Platform and security teams on requirements.
• Mentor junior Cloud Architects and promote best practices.
