Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Database Administrator focused on the reliability of database platforms across AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud. This hands-on role blends software engineering with database operations to ensure scalable, secure, and highly available data services.

The Senior DBA will own SLOs/SLIs, lead incident response, and drive automation across DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and relational databases. Remote work with EST hours and DoD-cleared environment exposure.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• 8+ years of database or data platform engineering experience with production ownership.
• Hands-on production experience operating AWS-scale databases.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification required.
• Experience defining SLOs/SLIs and incident management with RCA.

Responsibilities

• Operate production databases on AWS including RDS/Aurora and self-managed DBs on VMs.
• Administer DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and OpenSearch for workloads.
• Own database architecture, performance tuning, capacity planning, and backups/recovery.
• Lead incident response, RCA, and post-incident actions; automate to reduce toil.
• Design high-availability and disaster recovery solutions; validate RTO/RPO.
