Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Operations & Engineering Team Lead to provide technical leadership for a five-engineer team managing a large AWS and Azure estate. The role combines hands-on engineering (50–60%) with leadership (40–50%), within a 100% remote East Coast hours framework.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 12+ years' experience required.
Candidate must hold or be able to obtain Public Trust.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
5+ years of experience in cloud technologies, AWS and Azure, with emphasis on AWS.
Experience operating AWS at multi-account enterprise scale (hundreds of accounts).
Technical leadership of 5+ engineers, with or without formal supervisory authority.
Hands-on experience operating AWS infrastructure at enterprise scale.
Experience deploying infrastructure as code through CI/CD pipelines (Terraform).
Experience with incident response and operational support in production environments.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day technical direction of the cloud engineering and operations team.
Scope and prioritize ServiceNow requests and Jira tasks for provisioning and changes.
Plan operational support activities including patching, maintenance windows, and cost optimization.
Manage on-call and escalation model with defined severity and escalation paths.
Identify recurring issues and drive improvements in monitoring, automation, and processes.
Coordinate with Cloud Business Office and other teams; communicate status to leadership.
Contribute to hiring, interviews, and performance feedback for the team.
Perform incident management and post-incident analysis.
