Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to manage and optimize complex cloud-based systems in a remote setting. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams, implement automation, and ensure security and compliance across VA-related platforms.

The role requires 8+ years in systems engineering, 3+ years of SQL and monitoring experience, and a Bachelor’s in a related field. Public Trust clearance is referenced; this is a W-2 remote U.S. position.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud including core services.
• Proven track record managing large-scale production systems.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration skills.
• Scripting for automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
• Knowledge of IaC and CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard procedures to analyze situations and data.
• Detect, isolate, report, and resolve outages; recover systems.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities and escalations.
