UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement in Evanston, IL seeks a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to define and advance enterprise cloud infrastructure. You will lead cloud architecture, guide MSP teams, and drive secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.

Hands-on design and delivery, plus governance and security best practices, are essential. You will mentor engineers, shape standards, and collaborate across departments to support UL’s mission and modernization efforts.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related areas.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading complex cloud transformation, migration, modernization, or architecture initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or principal contributor to cloud infrastructure initiatives.

Mansioni

• Lead design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Direct an MSP-based engineering team, assign work, review deliverables, coach engineers, and ensure SLA adherence.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for MSP-delivered services and collaborate with vendor leadership on staffing and quality.
• Establish cloud architecture standards, governance, and best practices for security and scalability.
• Provide architectural guidance on complex infrastructure projects across multiple teams.
• Design and implement IaC strategies using Terraform; use CloudFormation when needed.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for provisioning, deployment, testing, and release automation.
• Create technical documentation and diagrams usable by staff and MSP partners.
• Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
