Job summary

Bayer Crop Science is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer specialized in Observability to enhance platform reliability through telemetry and monitoring. You will manage toolchains like Datadog and CloudWatch, set standards for logs, metrics and traces, and deploy golden paths for instrumentation.

You will collaborate with Delivery, Security and Data teams, mentor others, and measure observability KPIs while working with a flexible location model across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years AWS experience in production environments.
• Deep expertise with Datadog/CloudWatch.
• Designing actionable alerts.
• Proficiency with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Programming skills in Python/Go.
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture.

Responsibilities

• Triaging platform requests and incidents.
• Defining SLIs/SLOs for observability.
• Reducing MTTR and improving platform reliability.
• Integrating observability into CI/CD workflows.
• Optimizing telemetry costs and resource usage.
• Collaborating with delivery, Security and Data units.
• Mentoring junior engineers and peers.
• Measuring observability KPIs to drive improvements.
