Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead OS, hypervisor, VM, and container architecture for our Cloud Compute platform. You will work embedded with engineering teams, shaping the Compute system design and driving next-generation infrastructure services.

Responsibilities include owning the design, building PoCs, influencing product direction, and mentoring teams in an Agile setting. Strong Linux, Go, Python, and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Extensive experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant distributed production services using Virtualization and Cloud-Native technologies (e.g. qemu, kvm, Cilium).
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, linux internals, virtualization technologies, hypervisors, performance optimization.
• Experience with containers and related technologies (systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with experience in public cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

• Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
• Build proof of concepts to inform design choices and technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to shape product direction.
• Contribute to the engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor teammates.
• Collaborate with Agile engineering teams to enable rapid development.
