Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Architect for its Cloud Data Services team in the US. You will design scalable, secure cloud architectures, evaluate new technologies, and partner with product and SRE teams to deliver reliable data services.

You will be the subject matter expert on databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB) and on in-memory systems (Redis, Valkey), building prototypes and turning them into production-grade patterns for high availability.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/MIS or related field.
• Expertise in developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns.
• Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB.
• Experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey.
• Understanding distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities and services.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures.
• Build prototypes, proof of concepts, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security.
• Convert successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs.
