Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a senior leader for the Digital Engineering department to drive cloud-native platform and application engineering at scale. You will guide architecture decisions, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional teams across multiple programs with a focus on Azure AKS, Istio, and policy-as-code.

You will oversee agile delivery, partner with leadership, and champion AI-assisted development to accelerate value delivery while ensuring compliance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• Combined minimum of 13 years of higher education and/or work experience.
• Minimum of 4 years technology or systems experience.
• Minimum of 9 years technology management/program leadership experience including people management.
• Hands-on or oversight-level Azure and AKS at production scale.
• Experience leading teams using Agile and Kanban methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Direct and participate in client consults to analyze business requirements and recommend innovations.
• Monitor technology direction for cloud platforms, service mesh, and API management; manage vendor analyses and budgeting.
• Lead multiple application development, support testing, and infrastructure efforts; manage costs and risk.
• Direct systems development activities and coordinate with other managers to support mutual goals.
• Oversee implementation of technology aligned with standards and long-range plans; ensure documentation and compliance.
• Promote timely delivery and manage teams across geographic locations and time zones.
