Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a Senior Principal Cloud Data Engineer to lead the design and build-out of Azure-based data platform capabilities. This role partners with Enterprise Architecture and Data teams to shape the enterprise data strategy and ensure scalable, secure data solutions across the organization.

The position emphasizes hands-on engineering, architecture standards, and enablement across analytics, reporting, and applications, with four onsite days at Seneca One Buffalo and one remote day

Qualifications

• Combined minimum of 8 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management and/or architecture.
• Significant experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles.
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and operational data management practices.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture and engineering standards for enterprise cloud data platforms in Azure.
• Provide technical leadership for the evolution of shared data capabilities used by analytics, reporting, and application teams.
• Own the design and build-out of core Azure-based data platform capabilities, including data ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics enablement.
