Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the reliability and observability of its AI platform in Buffalo, NY. You will guide teams of engineers and supervisors, drive production readiness, and ensure service levels meet client needs.

The role requires hands-on technical direction, incident response leadership and close collaboration with cybersecurity, risk and architecture teams. Responsibilities include building observability pipelines, deploying Azure infrastructure via Terraform,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required and extensive engineering/architecture leadership experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in site reliability engineering, platform operations or related discipline with on-call production support.
Experience building observability pipelines and CI/CD for infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead the reliability, observability and operational readiness of the Bank’s AI platform across production.
Establish runbooks, escalation procedures, SLIs/SLIs, and incident response practices.
Drive automation and IaC using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and related tooling.
Oversee Azure infrastructure deployment and services, including API Management and monitoring.
Coordinate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, risk, architecture and business units to ensure compliance and risk controls.
