Job summary

Smile Digital Health is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud-hosted services powering our SaaS health data platform.

You will own deployment artifacts, Helm charts, container images, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines across Kubernetes/OpenShift environments, collaborating with security, platform, and infra teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure cloud deployments.

Qualifications

7+ years of professional cloud development or infrastructure engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience designing and building SaaS apps and multi-cloud solutions.
Experience with DevOps tooling including GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.
Working knowledge of public cloud SDKs/APIs (AWS/Azure/GCP). Boto3 and AWS CDK preferred.
Strong API development experience in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Solid knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift deployments.
Experience with Helm charts and Operators for complex deployments.
Familiarity with monitoring/logging/tracing tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, etc.).
Understanding of cloud hosting and security services; GitOps tooling; Terraform for complex environments.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and maintain cloud-native RESTful APIs using Python, Go, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
Build and manage Docker container images and deployments.
Author and version HELM charts for Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
Participate in CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment, testing, and monitoring.
Monitor performance, reliability, and scaling; implement bottleneck solutions.
Develop serverless SaaS components using AWS CDK, Lambda, API Gateway, and ECS/Fargate.
Ensure high availability with Kubernetes readiness/liveness probes and resource limits.
Collaborate with security, operations, and infra teams to meet compliance and logging needs.
Troubleshoot production/staging issues and provide root-cause analyses.
Maintain architecture and deployment documentation.
