Job summary

Smile Digital Health is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud services for our SaaS platform. You’ll own deployments, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with security, operations, and architecture teams to ensure scalable, secure cloud solutions.

The role requires 7+ years in cloud/infrastructure, strong API, Docker/Kubernetes, and Terraform/GitOps skills, with a focus on reliability and automation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cloud development or infrastructure engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, SE, or related field (or equivalent).
• Proven SaaS multi-cloud design and build experience.
• Experience with DevOps tooling: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Public cloud SDKs/APIs (AWS/Azure/GCP); AWS CDK preferred.
• Strong API development in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm charts, and Operators knowledge.
• Monitoring/logging/tracing tools: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch/Loki.
• GitOps, Terraform experience for complex environments.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain cloud-native RESTful APIs using Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Build and manage Docker images; optimize for security and cost.
• Author and version HELM charts for Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for deployment, testing, monitoring, and rollback.
• Monitor performance, reliability, and scale; address bottlenecks.
• Develop serverless components using AWS CDK, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate.
• Ensure high availability via Kubernetes readiness/liveness probes and quotas.
• Manage in-cluster dependencies like PostgreSQL, Kafka, Grafana, Elasticsearch.
