Job summary

Smile Digital Health seeks a Staff Software Developer to lead clinical intelligence projects and mentor engineers. You will design and implement backend features in Java/Spring Boot, build microservices, and ensure interoperability with FHIR standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in the software development lifecycle, ideally in healthcare technology.
• 4+ years in senior or staff-level development roles.
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proven experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and APIs (RESTful/FHIR).
• Experience with data pipelines (ETL/ELT, Kafka) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, Helm, and CI/CD with IaC practices.
• Healthcare systems experience and ability to mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement core application features with a focus on healthcare data.
• Lead feature sessions, provide high-level design and estimates for projects.
• Resolve complex technical challenges and ensure interoperable, performant systems.
• Mentor junior developers and drive coding standards across the team.
• Lead customer-facing implementation and refine product requirements with stakeholders.
• Guide end-to-end delivery of features and solutions in a distributed environment.
