Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape the Observability Platform, designing and scaling data pipelines across multiple clouds and datacenters. You will collaborate with SREs and engineering teams to deliver reliable, cost-efficient telemetry at scale.

You will mentor engineers, drive OpenTelemetry adoption, and champion secure, high‑performing platform services in a 24x7 production environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incidents).
• 5+ years backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing OpenTelemetry (OTLP, conventions, instrumentation).
• 5+ years with Docker, Kubernetes and Argo CD.
• 5+ years with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• 3+ years designing scalable distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helm/Kustomize, Grafana, Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead adoption of OpenTelemetry across the enterprise.
• Architect scalable telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability features for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs and alerting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams on reliability standards.
• Influence roadmap and deliver platform improvements.
