Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology seeks a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to shape the future of developer platforms at Fortune 6 scale. You will architect and scale data pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces across multiple clouds and datacenters.

You will leverage OpenTelemetry, collaboration with SRE, and mentoring across teams while delivering secure, high-performance telemetry solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• 5+ years cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 3+ years designing distributed, high-volume data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or similar backends.
• 3+ years with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java.
• Lead enterprise-wide OpenTelemetry adoption across client libraries and conventions.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks, and alerting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident reviews.
• Automate workflows with CI/CD improvements and platform tooling.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secrets management.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and standards.
• Gather requirements and influence roadmap with cross-team leadership.
