Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the migration of Digital Collection Services to AWS GovCloud, providing hands-on administration, configuration, and operations for a large-scale cloud estate. The role requires deep AWS experience (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch) and the ability to collaborate across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments.

This fully remote position is open to candidates in the continental United States, with a focus on secure, compliant infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; 12+ years experience or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or systems engineering.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS administration experience.
• Experience in AWS GovCloud or regulated cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with EC2 (Windows Server), FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and S3 storage.
• Proficient in IAM, roles, policies, and access controls.
• Experience with VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, routing, and connectivity.
• Experience with CloudWatch monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Experience using AWS CLI for automation; IaC tooling preferred (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Ability to work in hybrid/multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, on-premises).
• Knowledge of cloud security, compliance requirements, and runbook development.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and troubleshoot AWS GovCloud infrastructure for DCS.
• Manage EC2 instances, including Windows Server environments.
• Configure and administer FSx for NetApp ONTAP storage.
• Manage S3 storage and related cloud infrastructure.
• Configure IAM roles, policies, and access controls.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPCs, security groups, firewall rules, and routing.
• Implement CloudWatch monitoring and alerting.
• Support secure connectivity between AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments.
• Use AWS CLI and automation tools for infrastructure administration.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, storage, network, and performance issues.
• Develop technical documentation, procedures, and runbooks.
• Coordinate with VA platform teams, AWS engineering teams, and other stakeholders.
