Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Data & Automation Engineer to drive migration and ongoing management of a large evidentiary data environment within AWS GovCloud. You will focus on data migration, automation, lifecycle management, replication, and secure data movement across AWS, Azure, and on‑prem environments.

The role requires strong Python and AWS CLI skills, extensive S3/Glacier experience, DataSync, and NetApp ONTAP/SnapMirror familiarity. Clearable for government‑related access is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 8+ years of related experience considered.
• 5+ years in cloud engineering, data engineering, or cloud automation.
• 3+ years of hands‑on AWS experience in GovCloud or regulated cloud.
• Strong Python scripting and AWS CLI automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with S3, Glacier, and data lifecycle policies.
• Experience migrating large datasets and managing petabyte-scale data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python and AWS CLI automation for cloud data operations.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot large-scale data migration workflows.
• Support AWS DataSync for high-volume transfers and replication tasks.
• Configure and manage S3 storage, lifecycle policies, and archival workflows.
• Automate data movement, synchronization, validation, and retrieval processes.
• Monitor transfers and storage performance; optimize costs.
• Coordinate with cloud infra, AWS teams, and stakeholders.
• Document runbooks and technical procedures.
