Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Data & Automation Engineer to support migration and ongoing management of a large-scale evidentiary data environment in AWS GovCloud. You will focus on data migration, automation, storage lifecycle management, replication, archival, retrieval, and secure data movement across AWS, Azure, and VA on-premises environments.

The role requires strong hands-on Python, AWS CLI, S3/Glacier, DataSync, SnapMirror, and large-scale data migration experience, plus the ability to

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in cloud/data engineering or cloud automation.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience in AWS GovCloud or regulated cloud environments.
• Proficiency with Python scripting and AWS CLI.
• Hands-on experience with S3 and lifecycle policies (Glacier).
• Experience with large-scale terabyte-to-petabyte data migrations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python and AWS CLI automation for cloud data operations.
• Design, execute, and troubleshoot large-scale data migration workflows.
• Support AWS DataSync workflows for high-volume transfers.
• Configure and manage Amazon S3 storage and lifecycle policies.
• Implement S3/Glacier archival and retrieval workflows.
• Support NetApp ONTAP and SnapMirror replication activities.
• Migrate active datasets to FSx ONTAP and historical data to S3/Glacier.
• Automate data movement, synchronization, validation, archival, and retrieval processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data transfers, storage, and performance.
• Manage cloud storage costs and secure data flows between AWS/Azure/on-premises.
