Availity is seeking a Cloud Database Architect V to define enterprise cloud database strategy and lead modernization across the organization. You will design scalable, reliable database solutions for healthcare applications serving millions of users, partnering with engineering, security, and platform teams.

The role demands deep cloud database expertise, experience migrating large workloads, and a track record in cost optimization and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 10+ years in database engineering/architecture, with 5+ years cloud-native design.
• Proven experience designing mission-critical DB platforms for large workloads on public clouds.
• Proficiency with AWS; Azure/GCP preferred.
• Deep expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
• Experience with AWS services (RDS/Aurora) and related tools; cost optimization.
• HA/DR and multi-region architectures; modernization initiatives.
• IaC, automation, and CI/CD for database provisioning and upgrades.
• Strong security, governance, backup, and recovery knowledge.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise cloud database strategy, standards, and roadmaps.
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient database solutions for workloads.
• Lead modernization and migration initiatives with assessments and cutover plans.
• Architect high availability, DR, and multi-region capabilities.
• Establish governance, security, backup, and operational readiness standards.
• Evaluate new database technologies and drive adoption decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design tradeoffs.
• Provide architectural leadership and mentorship across teams.
• Translate business objectives into prioritized database capabilities.
