Overview
Performs a variety of independent administrative support duties along with customer service responsibilities. Schedules patients, manages multiple calendars, and coordinates surgical and infusion procedures. Designs, analyzes, and manages master and other schedules. May oversee special projects and supervise other staff, including work study students, temporary help, volunteers, etc.
Responsibilities
- Answers and directs telephone calls, takes messages, and provides directions.
- Schedules patients and procedures, manages calendars, and coordinates deposition scheduling.
- Creates, analyzes, and maintains master and other schedules.
- Maintains patient charts, provides administrative support to clinical staff, and may assist with scribing.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and manages forms, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Handles file management, patient records, and medical record numbers.
- Processes reports, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Trains new staff, participates in performance reviews, and supervises other employees and volunteers.
- Prepares agendas, takes meeting minutes, and coordinates conferences and travel.
- Manages budget tracking, billing issues, and maintains financial records.
- Prepares grants, negotiates contracts, and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma and 3 years of administrative support experience or equivalent.
- Experience working with the public required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Previous experience in a medical setting preferred.
