Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Clinical Operations Program Director to connect science and operations, driving clinical studies from initiation through completion across multiple programs.

This role blends strategic insight with hands-on leadership to deliver high-quality results while mentoring the Development Operations team. As a senior leader, you will influence senior management, manage budgets up to hundreds of millions, and ensure compliance with ICH/GCP and global regulations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of pharma/clinical research experience.
• 8+ years in clinical research demonstrating leadership and strategy.
• Proven global team leadership in complex studies.
• Experience coaching/mentoring and remote management.
• Expertise in SOPs, ICH, global regulations, ethics and compliance.
• Experience across Phase 1–3, 4 studies.

Responsibilities

• Develop clinical operational strategy and ensure programs are executed with quality, on-time, within budget.
• Translate asset strategy into operational execution and connect science with business and patients.
• Identify and mitigate program-level risks to achieve asset strategy.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration and represent Clinical Development Operations at senior meetings.
• Contribute to clinical/regulatory documents with operations input.
• Manage external budgets (programs ranging from $20–$200 million).
• Mentor and develop study managers; foster inclusive and innovative environment.
• Ensure compliance with ICH/GCP and AbbVie policies.
• Drive program activities and solutions with limited information when needed.
