Job summary

AbbVie in the United States is seeking a Clinical Operations Program Director to connect science and operations and drive execution of clinical studies. You will serve as strategic advocate for pipeline assets and lead a global team in delivering programs with innovative solutions.

You will develop operational strategy, manage risks, drive study timelines, and mentor 4–15 study managers plus up to 30 indirect staff, ensuring compliance with ICH/GCP and AbbVie's policies.

Qualifications

• 12+ years pharma/clinical research experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop the clinical operational strategy and oversee execution of studies/programs (timelines, enrollment, population availability).
• Evaluate and mitigate risks to asset strategy and present strategic options to leadership.
• Influence cross-functional teams to meet program objectives across Development Operations and Medical Affairs.
• Lead portfolio planning including costs, resources, and timelines for development programs.
• Review clinical and regulatory documents (INDs, IBs, NDAs, BLAs, MAAs).
• Manage external budgets across portfolio (up to $200M).
• Lead cross-functional process improvements with meaningful business impact and change management.
• Develop and mentor staff (4–15 study managers; up to 30 indirect staff).
• Ensure compliant program execution with ICH/GCP and regulatory requirements.
