The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is seeking a Claims Technical Director Casualty - Auto Liability to lead technical excellence in high-severity, litigated casualty claims. This exempt, full-time role offers remote or hybrid work from multiple US office locations.

You will coach core liability handlers, oversee coverage analysis, damages evaluation, and settlement strategy, and partner with leadership to drive consistent best practices and improved outcomes across the claims organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of casualty claims experience with complex, high-severity, and litigated claims.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; professional credentials preferred (CPCU, AIC, SCLA, JD).
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and litigation management skills.
• Proven coaching, leadership, and collaboration in a matrix environment.
• Executive presence with ability to influence across teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior technical resource for complex casualty claims, including auto bodily injury and high‑exposure lawsuits.
• Coach core liability claim handlers to improve exposure mitigation and claim outcomes.
• Conduct detailed file reviews for accurate liability assessment and litigation strategy.
• Provide guidance on coverage analysis, damages evaluation, and exposure assessment.
• Support lifecycle management of complex claims from investigation through settlement.
