Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Claims Technical Director Casualty - Auto Liability. This exempt, full-time role can be remote or hybrid, located out of Itasca, IL, Worcester, MA, Syracuse, NY, Howell, MI, or Richmond, VA.

You will lead technical excellence across high‑severity casualty claims and coach handlers through coverage, liability, and litigation decisions. Responsibilities include guiding exposure evaluation, reserving, and negotiation strategy, while collaborating to shape

Qualifications

• 10+ years of casualty claims experience, including complex and high‑exposure claims.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; professional credentials a plus.
• Proven ability to coach claim handlers and influence outcomes.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical resource for complex casualty claims across auto bodily injury, general liability, and high‑exposure lawsuits.
• Coach and collaborate with core liability claim handlers on complex claims.
• Conduct detailed technical reviews to improve liability assessment and litigation strategies.
• Provide guidance on coverage analysis, damages evaluation, and exposure assessment.
